ELAINE BARTON

As a youngster I remember examining a piece of acrylic art which totally fascinated me. It was of an ancient ship that had many strands of paint incorporated within the rigging. That piece of art was my inspiration which eventually led me to pick up a brush and put paint to canvas!

I love painting in acrylics and find I am drawn to landscapes, waterfalls, seascapes and sunsets. I have, however, also dipped a little into painting abstracts and found the process both enjoyable and expressive. I also find watercolours are a very interesting medium to work with. The need to adapt my technique from acrylics can at times be quite challenging but the results can prove surprisingly satisfying!

I’m particularly impressed by the magnificence of ever changing cloud formation, the majesty of trees and the rays of light permeating obstacles. How grateful I am that our world is filled with colour. I can only imagine how strange our lives would be if we were deprived of the gift of colour (akin to watching snooker on an old black and white analog television)!
