This piece is inspired by the beautiful scent of freshly cut flowers. This painting is about giving flowers and the different reasons as to why we give them. Sometimes to celebrate on happy occasions and sometimes as a way to say we are sorry or sad about something. It is bright and cheerful with lovely textures. The sides of this sturdy box canvas, which are 5cm deep, are painted white and it is strung and all ready to hang, no framing required. It has been signed on the side.

- About Fiona Philipps
Much of my work is influenced by the woodland, coastline, and landscapes I see on my daily walks. I draw inspiration from the natural world that surrounds me, and its contrast to the man made structures within it. Much of this interest is expressed through painting; however, I also enjoy working in paper, ceramics, and wire to create both large and small scale works. I love the vibrant colours of spring, summer, and autumn, and the more earthy tones of winter. There are many artists whose work I admire, but I especially love Paul Klee, Andy Goldsworthy, Chris Drury, Peter Randall-Page, Edward Hopper, and Patrick Heron. See all of Fiona Philipps's work
