Field Patterns – monotype
- Artist Ian Bertram
- Price £25
- Artist's description
Field Patterns is a multi-layered monotype made with acrylic paint on paper. It is an abstract but it makes me think of fields running down to a stream in the English landscape. It was produced by gel printing. Size is about 7" x 5" (18cm x 13cm). It has been mounted, using acid free mount board, to fit a frame size 10" x 8" (about 25cxm x 20cm). It has been signed and dated on the image.

- About Ian Bertram
I started life as a planner working in local government. After 30 odd (some very odd!) years redundancy led me to working for myself until a bout of illness ended that. Rather than trying to pick up the pieces again, I first started making jewellery, then started selling my photographs and digital prints. After a visit to a print studio where I saw work by Howard Hodgkin and Gillian Ayres in production I was hooked and enrolled on a printmaking course. I still take photos, but these days I focus on printmaking, but I also make collage and mixed media. Most of the work here is likely to be small studies exploring colour palettes and compositions. During the coronavirus pandemic, I've been exploring monotype prints taking my work in a new direction with bright colours and bold graphic shapes. Until further notice everything sold here will be as part of the #artistssupportpledge. See all of Ian Bertram's work
